About Me…
My work is inspired by the Essex and Suffolk landscape where I live and have been brought up. The East Anglian skyscapes, the vast horizons and rolling fields give me an ever changing colour palette to work from. I love the way the seasons change our natural surroundings constantly.
My practice is abstract with a hint of something familiar, primarily working in paint or mono screen printing techniques. Each piece I make is a one off original; capturing a time, a place or a feeling from a stolen moment. My work has a contemporary edge with influences from the Abstract Expressionist, street art and colour theorists.
As well as being an practising artist, I am also an Art Educator and have worked with Colchester & Ipswich Museums, been part of the Tate Common Projects and lectured for the International Studies Project for many years, as well as many other collaborations. I co-wrote the education programme for Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk exhibition, as well as other education programmes for museums.
During October 2022 to April 2023 I exhibited a piece of work in the Landscape Rebels exhibition at Christchurch Mansion alongside works by Turner, Monet, Constable, Pissarro and Gainsborough.
I have proudly worked as an Ambassador for the charity GeeWizz, been asked to contribute paintings for charity auctions for Ed Sheeran, Judy Murray and the High Sherriff of Suffolk.
During the last couple of years, I have sold work across the world to over 15 different countries as well as being included in permanent museum collections from the UK to China and USA.

Testimonials
‘After having helped facilitate a series of workshops with her, I am in no doubt that Emma Connolly's enthusiasm, professionalism and expertise rubs off on all students and young people who she might encounter. It was a pleasure to spend a day with someone who so clearly values the positivity of all facets of the visual arts and it’s education’.

‘Emma Connolly and I worked closely together on the Suffolk schools and colleges education programme she organised for the Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk exhibition. The whole project was an outstanding success and a testament to Emma’s creative thinking, professionalism and organisational skills. I was particularly impressed by Emma’s dynamism, which clearly motivated her students and inspired them to produce excellent work’.
John Sheeran
‘Emma has conducted many sessions on our Erasmus+ Courses for European Teachers of Art: Lectures and Discussion on the National Curriculum in Art and the Teaching of Art in British Schools and Workshops: Practical Ideas for the Use of Art in the Classroom. Her sessions were always enriching and inspiring. Feedback from the European Art Teachers who attended was without exception, excellent’.
